Plans For A New Garden

eggs-on-toastYou know what’s really good? Eggs and toast, plain and simple. Scrambled eggs with salt and pepper and toast with butter on it. This is my breakfast almost every morning; as it is easy, small and tasty. I’m not much of a morning eater so it’s just the perfect little meal in the morning. This might sound weird; but I actually look forward to my scrambled eggs and toast in the morning, in fact I’m currently thinking about my breakfast tomorrow morning, and it’s 4 o’clock in the afternoon! My parents fed this to me growing up, and I did not enjoy it. My parents both being vegan it was an odd combination, as I quite enjoy my meat and dairy… Especially Lamb, mmmmmm. thing’s have obviously changed though and I have a high level of respect for the eggs and toast.

Want to hear something fascinating? I was walking home from a photo shoot I attended today and came across one of those modern hippies I had briefly talked about on the about us page. He was an interesting one, I said hello and he introduced himself as ‘Tree‘. I wasn’t sure how to feel about that, but to each their own. We talked for a while and ended up on the subject of growing your own vegetables. He expressed that he had a vision of creating an entire landscape of vegetation that is about 2,000 square feet, and was looking for someone to provide him with the space, and some of the ingredients necessary. This idea actually intrigued me because we were looking for something similar to what he explained, so I invited him over to my house for dinner and to talk about it a little more.

He drew out his plans on paper and we collaborated a bit on what the end goal could be. By the end of our conversation we had completed a set plan for what our backyard is going to look like, about a year from now. The plans are big, they contain 4 fruit trees; apple, pear, cherry and plum. There will be 2 gardens containing potatoes, squash, tomatoes, zucchini and more, and a gravel pathway spiraling through the yard. I could tell this man is motivated to get it done, and has the knowledge to do so. We agreed that he would manage the work with the help of my husband, and I would provide the equipment and ingredients necessary.

I can’t wait, I have always wanted a beautiful backyard with all my own vegetables. My post: Wedding at the beechouse explains that my friend Joel is an amazing landscaper. He constantly sends me pictures of his work and it makes me sooo jealous. I’m quite excited to share the pictures of my backyard with him, and with all of you as well.

Keep following my blog for pictures and updates.

This is what my yard looks like right now… ugh.

Just wait though, a month from now that giant bush in the back there will be gone, and the process will be started. Unfortunately its not the best time of year, we have to wait until winter is over to plant, but on the other hand it’s perfect because we have lots of time to prepare.

Thanks for reading! I’m excited to update you all on the yard, and I am especially excited to see how this adventure unfolds.
